First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This small pilot study looked at whether adding functional electrical stimulation (FES) to reconstructive hand surgery helps people with tetraplegia regain more arm and hand function. The study planned to enroll 15 adults with cervical spinal cord injury who were already scheduled for hand surgery. Researchers measured changes in muscle strength, power, and daily task performance before and after surgery combined with FES.
