New combo therapy helps spinal cord injury patients walk better

NCT ID NCT06541197

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding functional electrical stimulation (FES) bicycle training to standard robotic rehabilitation helps people with chronic incomplete spinal cord injury walk better and regain leg function. 38 adults who could already walk at least 10 meters with or without assistance took part. The goal was to see if the combined approach improves walking ability and leg strength more than robotic rehab alone.
