New combo therapy offers hope for stubborn liver disease

Summary
This study tests whether adding fenofibrate to the standard drug ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) helps people with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who don't respond well to UDCA alone. About 150 adults with PBC will receive either the combination or a placebo for up to 36 weeks. The goal is to see if the combo normalizes key liver blood tests and improves quality of life.
