Drug trial halted early in bid to protect transplanted livers
NCT ID NCT05514119
Summary
This study tested whether a daily pill called fenofibrate could prevent a serious complication called ischemic cholangiopathy, which damages the bile ducts, in people who received a liver from a donor after their heart stopped. It was a small pilot study with 6 participants who had already received this specific type of transplant and showed signs of potential liver issues. The main goal was to check if patients could tolerate the medication safely for 12 weeks and see if it reduced the rate of this complication compared to past patients.
