Can a simple facemask measure oxygen levels accurately in emergency intubations?

NCT ID NCT05409573

First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring oxygen in exhaled air through a facemask is reliable for critically ill patients who need a breathing tube. Low oxygen is a common complication during this procedure. The researchers will compare facemask readings to a more direct measurement in the throat to see if the facemask is enough. The goal is to improve safety for ICU patients.
