Could a Five-Day fasting diet calm inflammation after gum treatment?
NCT ID NCT06074861
Summary
This study tested whether a special plant-based diet that mimics fasting could help reduce harmful inflammation in the body and gums after standard deep-cleaning treatment for advanced gum disease. Researchers enrolled 28 generally healthy adults with serious gum disease across five Spanish dental centers. Participants were randomly assigned to either follow three 5-day cycles of the fasting-mimicking diet alongside their treatment or to continue their normal diet, to see if the diet improved their recovery.
