Family power: training parents to care for preterm babies may shorten hospital stays
NCT ID NCT07364903
First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tests whether involving families as active partners in newborn care units can help preterm and low-birth-weight babies in Ethiopia. Over 1,000 babies will be split into two groups: one where parents are trained and integrated into daily care, and one with standard care. Researchers will measure if this approach reduces hospital stays and improves survival and weight gain.
