First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looked at 113 adults with myotonic dystrophy (Steinert's disease) to find out what factors are linked to low breathing (hypoventilation). Researchers measured lung function, sleepiness, fatigue, and thinking skills over 5 years. The goal was to better understand the different ways breathing problems develop in this condition.
