Not a trial. This treatment can be requested outside a study, case by case, for people who qualify.
Expanded access (paused)
Not a trial. The treatment can normally be requested outside a study, but is unavailable right now.
Expanded access (ended)
Not a trial. The treatment could once be requested outside a study, but no longer can.

Summary

This study observed 65 adults undergoing spine surgery while lying face-down (prone position). Researchers measured changes in optic nerve sheath diameter using ultrasound and checked vision before and after surgery. The goal was to identify factors that might lead to vision changes, but no treatment was tested.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors understand how to prevent rare vision problems after spine surgery.
What could go wrong
This was a small, observational study with no intervention, so it cannot prove any treatment works. Results may not apply to all patients.
