New surgery aims to restore smiles for cancer patients

NCT ID NCT06667427

Summary

This study is testing whether a specific nerve transfer surgery can improve facial movement and quality of life for head and neck cancer patients who have facial paralysis. Researchers will follow 40 patients who undergo this surgery, comparing their recovery to patients from the past who had similar nerve damage but did not have this specific reconstruction. The main goal is to see if this surgical technique helps patients regain facial function and feel better about their daily lives.
