New MRI technique aims to protect smiles during parotid surgery

NCT ID NCT04613349

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests whether a high-resolution MRI can better show how close a parotid (salivary gland) tumor is to the facial nerve. About 88 adults scheduled for first-time parotid surgery will get this special MRI before their operation. The goal is to help surgeons plan more precisely and reduce the risk of post-surgery facial paralysis.
