New MRI technique aims to prevent facial paralysis after tumor surgery

NCT ID NCT04613349

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding high-resolution sequences to a standard MRI can more accurately show the position of a parotid tumor relative to the facial nerve. About 88 adults scheduled for first-time parotid tumor surgery will receive the enhanced MRI before their operation. The goal is to help surgeons plan better and reduce the risk of post-operative facial paralysis.
