NCT ID NCT05633017

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at how breathing through a facemask-like resistance affects exercise in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). 52 volunteers walked on a treadmill with and without added inspiratory resistance. Researchers measured their breathing difficulty and sense of effort using both surveys and a forehead sensor. The goal was to understand how masks impact exercise performance and perception.
