Scientists test if masks make exercise harder for lung patients

NCT ID NCT05633017

Summary

This study aimed to understand how breathing through a resistance, similar to an N95 mask, affects people with chronic lung disease during exercise. Researchers compared how 52 participants felt and performed while walking on a treadmill with and without the breathing resistance. The goal was to gather data on breathlessness and effort to better understand the challenges of exercising with impaired breathing.
