First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study is testing whether transplanting a face and hands together can help people with severe injuries that standard surgery and prosthetics cannot fix. Up to 10 adults aged 18-64 with major facial and hand damage will receive the transplant. The goal is to see if the new face and hands work better and look more natural, but recipients must take lifelong anti-rejection medication.
