Could an eye scan spot Alzheimer's? researchers look to the retina for clues

NCT ID NCT04794634

Summary

This study investigated whether a simple eye scan could help doctors diagnose Alzheimer's disease. Researchers measured the thickness of specific nerve layers in the back of the eye (the retina) in people with Alzheimer's, people with Lewy body disease, and healthy individuals. The goal was to see if thinning of these layers is a reliable sign of Alzheimer's, which could lead to a faster and less expensive way to detect the disease.
