Pregnancy's hidden window: eye scans may reveal health clues for mom and baby

NCT ID NCT06311617

First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study aims to understand how the back of the eye changes during pregnancy by taking safe, non-contact photos at three key times: early pregnancy, late pregnancy, and after delivery. Researchers will measure blood flow and cell health in the eye to see if these changes relate to the health of the mother and baby. About 90 pregnant women in their first or second trimester will join the study at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
