New study uses eye scans and brain MRI to uncover hidden links in kidney disease

NCT ID NCT07358572

First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looks at how the eyes, brain, and kidneys interact in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Researchers will use non-invasive MRI scans and eye imaging to see if changes in the brain and retina are linked to thinking problems and kidney function. About 1,500 participants with CKD will take cognitive tests and have scans, but no new treatments are being tested.
