Blink of an eye: new study tests simple way to assess brain injury patients
NCT ID NCT06323031
First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study looks at whether natural eye blinking patterns can help doctors tell the difference between two states of consciousness after severe brain injury: unresponsive wakefulness and a minimally conscious state. Researchers will track blinking rate, strength, and timing in 70 patients across 8 European centers. The goal is to improve diagnosis and predict recovery without extra tests or procedures.
