Blink of an eye: new study tests simple marker for brain injury recovery

Summary
This study looks at whether the way people blink their eyes naturally can help doctors tell the difference between two states of consciousness after severe brain injury: unresponsive wakefulness and minimally conscious state. Researchers will measure blink rate, size, and timing in 70 patients across 8 European centers. The goal is to see if these simple eye movements can improve diagnosis and predict recovery, without any extra tests or treatments beyond standard care.
