Breathing muscle training boosts rehab for lung disease patients

NCT ID NCT07317531

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding expiratory muscle training (exercises that strengthen the muscles used to breathe out) to standard pulmonary rehabilitation can improve lung function, breathing strength, and exercise ability in adults with bronchiectasis. About 40 participants aged 18-70 with stable disease will be randomly assigned to either standard rehab alone or rehab plus the extra breathing exercises. The goal is to see if the added training helps with coughing, shortness of breath, and overall quality of life.
