Supercharged cord blood offers new hope for cancer patients

Summary
This study tested whether a new, lab-expanded cord blood transplant (called NiCord) works better than a standard cord blood transplant for patients with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. The goal was to see if the expanded cells help patients recover their immune systems faster after the transplant. The trial involved 125 patients who needed a transplant but did not have a perfectly matched donor.
