Pre-Surgery workouts may stop arm swelling in breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07301580

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested whether a personalized exercise program, started before breast cancer surgery and continued for 12 months after, could prevent lymphedema (arm swelling) and improve recovery. Forty women scheduled for breast surgery participated. Researchers measured arm volume, pain, shoulder movement, and quality of life over one year. The goal was to see if prehabilitation could become a standard part of breast cancer care.
