First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding special arm and core exercises to standard training can improve physical fitness in amputee football players. Fourteen players with lower-limb amputations will be split into two groups: one does the special exercises, the other does standard arm exercises. After 8 weeks, researchers will measure strength, balance, and sprint times to see which group improves more.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) based upper extremity strengthening exercises combined with core stabilization training

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a better training program to improve strength, balance, and sprinting in amputee football players.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early study with only 14 participants, so results may not apply to all amputee athletes. It is not testing a new drug or cure.
