Why do SMA patients get so tired? new study digs in

NCT ID NCT05518773

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at why people with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) have trouble exercising and feel very tired. Researchers tested 34 people with SMA who were already on standard treatments. They measured how much oxygen the body uses during exercise and how well muscles use oxygen. The goal was to learn more about the causes of fatigue, not to test a new treatment.
