Shaking off stigma: brain procedure may ease social burden of hand tremors

NCT ID NCT07430761

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a brain treatment called focused ultrasound can reduce the social stigma that people with essential tremor often face. About 220 adults with essential tremor will have their tremor treated and then be followed for one year. Researchers want to see if less shaking leads to less embarrassment, anxiety, and avoidance of social situations.
