Brain ultrasound may erase social stigma of hand tremors
NCT ID NCT07430761
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at whether reducing hand tremors with a non-invasive brain procedure called focused ultrasound can also reduce the social stigma that people with essential tremor often face. Researchers will follow 220 participants for one year after treatment, measuring changes in psychological distress and social avoidance. The goal is to understand how much tremor relief is needed to improve quality of life and whether treating one hand or both is more effective.
