Could a cool esophagus improve heart ablation outcomes?

NCT ID NCT06354777

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether actively cooling the esophagus during a heart ablation procedure helps people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) have better results. About 312 adults with symptomatic AFib who are scheduled for ablation will be followed for up to 12 months. Researchers will track if the heart rhythm stays normal and if patients have fewer side effects like heartburn.
