Smart scan guides esophageal cancer therapy: higher remission rates expected
NCT ID NCT07385664
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special PET scan (FAPI-PET/CT) can help doctors pick the best treatment before surgery for people with esophageal cancer. After initial chemo-immunotherapy, the scan will show if the tumor is responding well. Good responders will continue chemo-immunotherapy, while poor responders will switch to chemoradiotherapy. The goal is to improve the chance of no cancer remaining at surgery (pCR). About 66 adults with resectable esophageal cancer will take part.
