Smart scans may guide better esophageal cancer therapy
NCT ID NCT07385664
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special PET scan (FAPI-PET/CT) can help doctors choose the best next treatment for people with esophageal cancer after initial chemotherapy and immunotherapy. About 66 adults with resectable esophageal cancer will receive chemoimmunotherapy, then a scan to see how well the tumor responded. Those with a good response continue chemoimmunotherapy; those with a poor response switch to chemoradiotherapy. The goal is to improve the chance of a complete response (no cancer left at surgery) while reducing unnecessary side effects.
