New swallow test may change how we screen for esophagus cancer risk
NCT ID NCT05778851
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a non-endoscopic device (EsoCheck) and biomarker (EsoGuard) can help doctors decide when to refer patients for a traditional endoscopy to screen for Barrett's esophagus, a condition that can lead to cancer. 97 doctors reviewed patient cases with and without the test results to see if it changed their referral decisions. The goal was to see if this less invasive approach could be a useful screening tool.
