First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving a low dose of esketamine during ovarian cancer surgery could prevent or reduce depressive symptoms that often occur after the procedure. Over 500 women undergoing cytoreductive surgery received either esketamine or a placebo, and their mood was checked three days later using a standard depression questionnaire. The goal was to see if this simple addition to anesthesia could improve emotional recovery and sleep quality.
