NCT ID NCT02290769
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study compares how long it takes to place a tube into the bile duct during a procedure called ERCP using two different guide wire lengths: a long wire and a short wire that allows faster exchange. About 292 adults needing their first ERCP will be randomly assigned to one wire type. The goal is to see which wire leads to faster and safer cannulation, potentially reducing complications like pancreatitis.
