Estrogen switch: new drug may stop depression relapse in menopause survivors

This study looked at whether a drug called LY500307, which acts on a specific estrogen receptor in the brain, could prevent mood symptoms in women who had depression during perimenopause and later stopped estrogen therapy. 74 healthy postmenopausal women aged 45-65 with a history of perimenopausal depression took either the study drug or a placebo while stopping estrogen. The goal was to see if the drug could keep their mood stable and prevent depression from returning.
