Heart attack survivors: which ablation method stops deadly rhythms best?
NCT ID NCT07240441
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study compares two types of heart ablation (a procedure that scars tiny areas of heart tissue to stop abnormal electrical signals) for treating dangerous fast heart rhythms that can occur after a heart attack. About 220 adults who have an implanted defibrillator and have had a heart attack at least 3 months ago will be randomly assigned to receive either standard ablation (inside the heart only) or a more extensive ablation (inside and on the outer surface of the heart). Researchers will track deaths, electrical storms (multiple fast rhythm episodes in 24 hours), and defibrillator shocks over 2 years to see which approach is safer and more effective.
