Tiny brain probes hunt hidden seizure signals
NCT ID NCT02491476
Summary
This study tested a new type of brain electrode to see if it could reliably record very fast brain signals called 'fast ripples.' Researchers wanted to know if these signals could help doctors more accurately locate the source of seizures in patients whose epilepsy does not respond to medication. The study involved 54 patients who were already scheduled for a special brain monitoring procedure to plan for possible surgery.
