Virtual reality and a daily pill aim to sharpen minds in mood disorders

NCT ID NCT07404085

First seen Feb 26, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether a three-week program combining a daily supplement (sodium butyrate) with virtual reality-based cognitive training can improve memory, attention, and other thinking skills in 160 middle-aged and older adults who have had depression or bipolar disorder but are currently stable. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of four groups to compare the effects of the supplement, the training, or both. The goal is to see if this combination can boost brain function more than either approach alone.
