Timed bolus epidural may cut breakthrough labor pain for multiparous women
NCT ID NCT06580327
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study compares two ways of giving epidural pain relief during labor in women who have had at least one previous birth. One group receives the pain medicine as a programmed bolus every 60 minutes, while the other gets a continuous infusion. The goal is to see which method reduces breakthrough pain, defined as a pain score above 30 on a 0-100 scale. About 186 women will participate, and the results could help improve comfort during childbirth.
