Could scheduled boluses beat continuous drip for labor pain?

NCT ID NCT06580327

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether giving epidural pain medicine in scheduled doses (every 60 minutes) works better than a steady drip to prevent breakthrough pain during labor. About 186 women who have given birth before and request an epidural will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods. The goal is to see which approach keeps pain scores lower and reduces the need for extra pain medicine.
