Knee surgery study tracks eye nerve changes from epidural
NCT ID NCT07458321
First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at 60 adults having total knee replacement to see if epidural anesthesia changes pressure inside the head by measuring the optic nerve sheath diameter with ultrasound. Participants were randomly given either epidural or spinal anesthesia, and their eye nerve size was tracked before, during, and after surgery. The goal was to understand if the anesthetic volume affects brain pressure, not to treat any disease.
