NCT ID NCT04079673

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looked at whether epidural anesthesia (a spinal block) can help preserve healthy gut bacteria and speed up recovery in people donating part of their liver. 42 healthy donors were observed after surgery. The goal was to see if this type of pain relief reduces stress on the body and improves gut function compared to standard anesthesia.
