First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at a thin layer inside blood vessels, called the glycocalyx, in people who have been declared brain dead and are organ donors. The goal is to understand how damage to this layer might affect organ quality. By learning more, doctors hope to find ways to keep donated organs healthier before transplant, especially from donors whose organs might otherwise be considered too risky.
