New hope for cancer patients with fluid in the lungs: drug combo aims to reduce repeat draining procedures
NCT ID NCT04914598
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This phase 3 study tests whether adding Endostar to standard cisplatin treatment can help control malignant pleural effusion or ascites—fluid buildup in the chest or belly caused by cancer. About 290 adults whose fluid has not been controlled by prior therapies will receive either Endostar plus cisplatin or a placebo plus cisplatin. The main goal is to see if the combination extends the time before patients need another drainage procedure.
