New combo aims to keep cancer fluid at bay

NCT ID NCT04914598

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding Endostar to standard cisplatin treatment can help cancer patients with fluid buildup in the chest or belly (malignant pleural effusion or ascites) go longer without needing another drainage procedure. About 290 adults whose fluid has not been controlled by prior treatments will receive either Endostar or a placebo, both with cisplatin, injected directly into the body cavity. The goal is to see if the combination delays the need for repeat drainage.
