First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study compares a newer, less invasive mastectomy technique (endoscopic skin-sparing) with the standard approach in 258 women with breast cancer. The goal is to see if the endoscopic method leads to fewer wound complications and higher patient satisfaction. Participants are randomly assigned to one of the two surgeries, and their recovery and cosmetic outcomes are tracked.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Endoscopic skin-sparing mastectomy (a less invasive surgical procedure)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that endoscopic mastectomy reduces wound problems and improves cosmetic results for certain breast cancer patients.

What could go wrong

This is a relatively small, early-stage trial (258 participants) comparing surgical techniques, so results may not apply to all patients. The endoscopic approach may not be suitable for everyone and could have unknown risks.
