NCT ID NCT03848858
First seen Feb 27, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested whether Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, added to standard HIV care, reduces psychological trauma and improves quality of life in people diagnosed with HIV within the last month. Forty adults were split into two groups: one received weekly EMDR for up to 6 months plus standard care, the other received standard care alone. Researchers measured trauma symptoms, anxiety, depression, and HIV outcomes to see if EMDR helps people adjust to their diagnosis.
