NCT ID NCT02419976
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tested whether a device called an electronic nose (Aeonose) could tell if a person had been fasting or not just by analyzing their breath. Researchers collected breath samples from 879 adults before and after routine endoscopy procedures. The goal was to see if the device could reliably distinguish fasting from non-fasting states using patterns of exhaled compounds. The study was terminated early, and no treatment or health benefit was offered to participants.
