First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether electroacupuncture, a type of acupuncture with mild electrical pulses, can prevent postoperative delirium (sudden confusion) in older adults having total knee replacement. About 1,460 participants aged 65-90 will receive either electroacupuncture or a sham procedure before and after surgery. The goal is to see if this approach reduces the risk of delirium in the first three days after the operation.
