Does a short hospital stopover affect survival in seniors?

NCT ID NCT07302555

First seen Dec 29, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at adults aged 75 and older who come to the emergency room with a medical problem and need to be admitted to the hospital. Researchers want to see if being sent first to a Short-Stay Unit (a temporary holding area) affects their chances of survival three months later, compared to going directly to a regular hospital ward. The goal is to find the best way to care for older patients when hospital beds are limited.
