First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study looked at 64 elite race walkers to see if training at high altitude causes or worsens exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB), a condition that narrows airways during exercise. Participants completed breathing tests, treadmill runs, and blood draws on both plains and altitude. The goal was to diagnose EIB and understand how it affects athletic performance.
